The meeting was called to order by the president, Joe Baker, at 7:26 pm. Officers present were Joe Baker, president; Keith Hall, 1st VP; Dick Thompson, 2nd VP; Tom Kay, treasurer; and Dick Fritz, acting secretary. 41 clubs were represented. Forney Museum new chairman: Christof Kleim reported that Amy Newman has resigned as director of the Forney Museum and that he is now the Museum Director. He announced that on Saturday, Nov.7, there will be a free night at metro museums (including the Forney) with a shuttle bus to transport visitors from one site to another. The Forney has distributed a list of items they would like to have donated (such as tires, jacks, shelving, etc.) to assist the displays. Legislative matters: No issues were brought up, and Leo Boyle is out of town. Minutes of September and October meetings: Copies of the minutes and meeting notes were distributed. It was moved, seconded, and passed unanimously that they be accepted. Treasurer’s Report: Tom Kay reported the following balances as of the end of October: ASSETS: Operating Account: $ 3328.28 Govt.Relations Account: $ 1538.00 Swap Meet Account: $17242.92 2010 Swap Meet Pre-Reg: $ 215.00 Cruise Account: $ 76.55 Accounts Total: $22,400.89 (in checking account) Swap Meet 2010 deposit: $ 300.00 Total assets; $ 22700.89 LIABILITIES: Pre-paid swap meet reg: $ 215.00 NET WORTH: $22845.89 Details are available from the treasurer. Election of officers for 2010: The current president, first and second vice presidents, and treasurer were nominated in October to continue in those positions for 2010. Dick Fritz will serve as acting secretary. It was moved and seconded that the current officers be retained. The motion passed by acclamation. Newsletter: The officers have been discussing a proposal by Greg Akiyama that he publish on the internet a newsletter with input from OCCC. When Greg can attend a meeting, the proposal will be presented to the council. 2010 Swap Meet: Dates for the 2010 meet at Adams County Fairgrounds are set as 21-22 August. Move-in is on the 21st, and the meet is open on the 22nd. The cost of renting the Exhibition Hall for indoor vendors was discussed; this 20,000 sq ft building costs $1900 to rent, but the Al Lessor building with 8,000 sq ft. would probably accommodate vendors at less cost. Of course, weather becomes a factor. The need to concentrate vendors to improve traffic flow was pointed out. Any relocations need to recognize that horse events could take precedence. Mustang Club Raffle: Clif Allbrandt of the Early Mustang Club discussed their raffle of a restored 1969 Mustang to benefit the Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund (dependents of military personnel). The Mustang will be awarded at 3 pm on November 29 at the Rod & Custom Show. Rod & Custom Show at the National Western Complex, Nov. 27 – 29: Dick Thompson reported that the OCCC will have a display of 11 vehicles at the show, representing the variety of clubs and interests in the council. This is a great opportunity to promote our clubs and our legislative efforts. As usual, Dick could use volunteers to staff the display. RAQC Scrap Vehicles: Keith Hall read a list of the latest vehicles that have been turned in through the high pollution monitoring program. NSRA Calendar: Dick Thompson attended the scheduling meeting of the local National Street Road Association, to promote the OCCC and to see that the dates of the Havana and Colfax Cruises and the Swap Meet are on their calendar. There will be cooperative events with NSRA in 2010. The meeting was adjourned at 8:07 pm. Next meeting: December 2nd at the Forney Museum. Respectfully submitted, Richard B. Fritz, Acting Secretary |
